Since its establishment in 1951, Westervelt Lodge has been considered some of the best white-tailed deer hunting in the southeast. Located near Aliceville (Pickens County) along the Tombigbee River, our 10,000 acres of rich bottomland and mixed pine hardwood forest is the some of the best white-tailed deer, Eastern wild turkey, and bobwhite quail habitat you can find. Westervelt Lodge offers full service dove hunts, archery and rifle hunts for white-tailed deer, and unmatched upland wingshooting. Our conference facilities, equipped with all the necessary AV equipment and supplies, are capable of handling any and all of your corporate meeting, training, or team building needs. For privacy and comfort, our guests enjoy private room and bath with king size beds and daily housekeeping services. We can accommodate 10 overnight guests in our main lodge and four guest in our Liar’s Lair Lodge. The Liar’s Lair is equipped with all the comforts of our main lodge and is perfect for couples, smaller parties, or business associates who need privacy for after-dinner meetings. We can also offer double occupancy if needed for larger parties, increasing capacity to 25 guests. Archery
Westervelt offers semi-guided archery hunts for groups of 4 or less and full service hunts for groups of 5 or more. Our semi-guided hunts do not include meals and housekeeping services.
Quail Season
Westervelt Lodge has quickly become Alabama’s finest wingshooting lodge. What sets us apart are our hard flying birds and well-groomed quality courses, surrounded by the towering pines Westervelt Lodge has long been famous for. The wing-shooting hunts are fully guided with our seasoned bird dogs, or feel free to bring and hunt with your own dogs. We offer plantation-style quail hunts or mixed bag hunts that include chukar and pheasant. Black Powder Season

Continental Pheasant Shoot
Does a crisp winter day of outdoor sports with colleagues and friends at a destination location sound appealing? If so, join Westervelt Lodge in Aliceville, Alabama, for a continental pheasant shoot. Continental pheasant shoots are modeled after European driven-style pheasant shoots, with barrel-melting action. Hunters are stationed in 10 blinds surrounding a hidden tower. Three hundred birds are flighted as single or doubles through the shooters, and blinds are rotated every 15 shots. Trained Labrador Retrievers collect every downed bird. Refreshments are provided during the shoot, and Westervelt Lodge’s famous fried chicken and homemade banana pudding lunch is included! More info at www.westerveltlodge.com
Dove Season
Westervelt Lodge offers full service private dove hunts for groups of 10 or more. We also offers fee per gun or "open" shoots. The dates of these shoots can be found on our website calendar. In Alabama we have a split season: 9-5-09 thru 10-4-09 10-24-09 thru 11-7-09 The season does open again in December and if we have birds we hunt’em! These hunts will be posted on our website calendar at www.westerveltlodge.com
Westervelt Youth Hunt
Introduce your son, daughter, or any other well-deserving youth to our great sport at Westervelt Lodge. Known for its trophy bucks and mature hardwood bottoms, our 10,000 acres are anchored by a top-notch lodge with a friendly and experienced staff. Youth hunters will get the opportunity to sight in their rifles and target practice prior to their hunt. All meals and lodging are provided and each youth must be accompanied by an adult. Below is our 2009 youth hunt schedule: Friday, November 13 Arrive 3:00 p.m. for check-in Hunting and firearms safety presentation by Alabama Dept. of Conservation officer and hunters education instructor, Gordon McGlawn. Hunting rifle check and target practice with .22 rifles; instilling proper bullet placement, shooting form, and technique. Dinner (steak, hamburgers, and hotdogs) will be cookout style in the Westervelt Lodge courtyard. Saturday Early wake-up for breakfast and into the field for the morning hunt Midday: A visit to our shotgun range for clay target shooting Evening: Basic deer biology (antlers, aging, habitat, etc.) will be discussed by Steven Carroll, Westerevlt Lodge Manager. Gun Deer Season
Since its establishment in 1951, Westervelt Lodge has been the leader in quality white-tailed deer hunting and management in Alabama. Located along the Tombigbee River in Pickens County, our 10,000 acres of rich bottomland and mixed pine hardwood land base, coupled with our professional wildlife management techniques, provides Westervelt Lodge with the best wildlife habitat in the Southeast. We develop our landscapes to create situations that get wildlife in front of our guests. Depending on observed deer activity, acorn abundance, or stage of the rut, our guests hunt from either sturdy metal ladder stands positioned in hardwood bottoms, tripods and elevated blinds overlooking the hub and spokes, wildlife clearcuts, or shooting houses on one of our many game foodplots. Guests may bring their own climbing stands if they wish. Guests are asked to harvest only a mature buck, which means a 3 ½+ year-old buck with 8 or more points, and an inside spread of 16 or more inches. Turkey Season
If you’re looking for the best in Eastern wild turkey hunting, you’ll find it at Westervelt Lodge. Our 10,000 acres of Tombigbee River bottom and mixed pine/hardwood stands are managed exclusively for wild turkey and white-tailed deer. Our intensively managed upland areas and miles of roadside management zones provide excellent nesting and brood habitat that keeps our turkey numbers on the rise year after year. Depending on group size, each guest has anywhere from 800 to 1,000 acres, ensuring plenty of room to set their sights on a gobbling bird. Westervelt turkey hunts are one-on-one guided by our veteran staff. Our guides are expert turkey hunters with the skills necessary to help the beginning turkey hunter be successful, or providing landscape knowledge to the seasoned hunter who prefers to go head to head with one of our longbeards.
